If you don’t believe in the existence of evil, you have a lot to learn.
Todd Bowden is an apt pupil. Good grades, good family, a paper route. But he is about to meet a different kind of teacher, Mr. Dussander, and to learn all about Dussander’s dark and deadly past…a decades-old manhunt Dussander has escaped to this day. Yet Todd doesn’t want to turn his teacher in. Todd wants to know more. Much more. He is about to face his fears and learn the real meaning of power—and the seductive lure of evil.
A classic story from Stephen King, Apt Pupil reveals layers upon layers of deception—and horror—as finally there is only one left standing.

Terrific
Mr. King never lets us down. He detail in this book took me to that kitchen!
Not King’s Best
There’s no question that Stephen King is an extraordinary writer across genres and has produced one of the most predictably reliable collections of work available. Apt Pupil however did not hit the mark and likely suffers from being held up against the high quality of work throughout the rest of the canon. The conceit was interesting enough, but didn’t have much room for growth. The main characters, or any of them for that matter, weren’t particularly likable and as such I didn’t find myself invested in their character arc. Which is good, because they didn’t have any.
Nope.
The only King book I’ve never wanted to finish. I’ve loved and reread all his other works, and this one is only story that made me too queasy to continue.
