Publisher Description
In a world where your thoughts can be tracked, manipulated, or erased, sixteen-year-old Aura Jax discovers she's not just another number in The Society—she's the key to tearing it apart.
She was nothing. No one. Just one more starving teen scrabbling for life on the outskirts of The Society – the high-tech city where the Elites rule in luxury under the ever-watchful eye of the tyrannical President Wolfe.
But when Aura's mother is arrested for crimes against the society, and Aura herself attacked while trying to flee, she discovers that she is one of the Gifted: people with psychic powers strong enough to shift the flow of history, to change the world around them… even to overthrow the "perfect" dystopia of The Society.
Now, Aura is on the run. Branded The Society's most dangerous threat, and aided only by an exiled scientist, Aura must hone her skills and try to stay one step ahead of the government's kill squads, all the while trying to figure out how to save her family and survive in a world bent on her destruction.
An impossible task, and about to get even harder.
Because now her mother has been imprisoned in Wolfe's personal palace, and the only way to get her out is to be captured herself, escape a place no one has ever returned from… and overthrow the most powerful government in history along the way.

Rooting for Aura
I love a good dystopian novel and this one made for a good read. The concept of thought crimes and the advancement of technology to punish said crimes definitely seems possible
in the future. The author offers up a unique heroine and gives you something to root for.
So Good!
I love a good dystopian society storyline, this book actually turned me into more of a sci-fi novel lover as well. I was a little skeptical at the beginning and put the book on pause before picking it back up. There wasn’t any substance to the story that intrigued me just yet. Even though this is my go-to genre, I thought the book was going to be a badly written version of The Hunger Games or something. After starting over, it definitely caught my attention by the 3rd chapter and I could not put it down after that!
The book is very well written, love the characters’ development, and it has a sense of determination throughout the story. It left me guessing because the ending could have went so many different ways. I was disappointed about the cliffhanger, but that just made me more excited to read the next book. Usually most sequels don’t add up to the greatness of the first book, but I have high hopes for this one!
Great read
This book is a great read I couldn’t put it down from the get go. Very well written and leaves you guessing.
