New York Times bestselling sensation Susan Mallery returns to Fool's Gold, California, where it's true that sometimes you have to kiss a few frogs…
Former pro-football kicker Sam Ridge has notoriously bad luck with women—from cheaters to fame chasers. Still, the gorgeous brunette at the bar in Fool's Gold looks harmless—until she takes him home and he discovers a room devoted to securing a man, for life.
Dellina Hopkins never guessed that storing gowns from a friend's bridal boutique would chase away her first and only fling. After her parents died, she skipped her "wild youth" to raise her sisters. She doesn't want forever from Sam, but one night—all night—would've been nice.
His clean getaway gets messy when his firm hires Dellina to plan an event. As long hours lead to late nights, the two succumb to temptation again. Has Sam's luck finally changed? Or this time, will Dellina be the one to run?

Another Mallery Hit!
I love Susan Mallery's writing. Her characters are smart, funny and flawed; a perfect combination. This latest installment from Fool's Gold is no exception. Having said that, I find, in long series like this, that sometimes a story can get bogged down while the author catches the reader up on every previous book's storyline. Added to that, in Before We Kiss, we're introduced to a character from way out in left field, and it's more than obvious we're being set up for a future Fool's Gold plot. Small irritants in an otherwise riveting story.
Another FUN to read book!
Sam is a great central figure in this book, but as you get farther into the book, he's even better as you read about his (very funny) parents! And Dellina is delightful.... Just sit down and enjoy this great read!
It's like coming home.
Sam Ridge is a sexy former pro-football player who now runs the finance department of SCORE. SCORE is a company he owns with 3 other friends. Sam has a horrible track record with women. Dellina Hopkins runs a party planning business. When Sam hires Dellina to plan a party for SCORE, the ONE night they spent together 5 months ago, makes things awkward. He ran away that night, without letting her explain why she had a room full of wedding dresses. He thought she was trying to snag a husband. After he apologizes for running and she explains why she had the dresses, they find it hard to stay away from each other. They are perfect for each other but neither of them want a serious relationship. He's been burned, bad, and has EXTREME trust issues. She had to raise her twin sisters after her parents passed away and now that they're grown and have lives of their own, she's ready for a life lived the way she wants with no extra commitments. That's where the "friends with benefits" comes in for them. Will feelings get in the way or are they both OK with no responsibilities toward each other?
Fantastic book!!! What I have written about is the main story line and characters but life in Fool's Gold goes on. There are many sub stories happening throughout the book. My favorite being Sam's mother, Lark. She is just wonderful! Some are funny, some touching, and others are extremely sad. That's life in this magical, fun, mysterious little town with a mayor that no one can quite figure out. It's like coming home. I love it and I miss it more at the end of every book!
