Amelia grew up in a world of half-truths. She knows she's an Elder, but has no idea what that means. Her father reminds her daily that she must maintain control, but he refuses to explain why. Even worse, she's betrothed to the prince of the Immortals and doesn't even know his name.
Finally breaking free to live a few normal years at a community college, the last thing Amelia expects is to find her best friend in a cheeky southern girl, or fall for a self-assured human who sees her for who she is, not what she will become.
As she learns more about herself, Amelia realizes the line between love and duty is a thin one. As her power continues to increase exponentially and her questions are slowly answered, Amelia must make the ultimate choice. The question is, will her head win the battle, or her heart?
The thing I liked about this book was the way the author integrated the real and fantasy worlds. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series and discovering more details about the immortals and their world.
The premise is interesting, but the characters were ultimately too unlikable for me to finish. I really tried. The main character whines way too much and is really obtuse. There is just nothing more frustrating than watching characters miss what is obvious to the reader over and over again in awkward dialogue.
Amazing debut novel!!!
Wow, just wow - Stormy has delivered a HIT! I devoured this book & thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it! She has gifted me with a new series that I'm going to LOVE through and through! Anyone that knows me understands that I love everything Reckless Magic. Although I can see *some* Rachel Higginson influence in Stormy's writing, I want to assure you that Bound by Duty is totally different. I love the major and minor characters, their interactions, and the development of the story! I cannot wait to see what this series is going to have in store for me!
