Love Firehouse Fourteen
This is the third book in the Firehouse Fourteen series. You can tell that the author is a former firefighter by how well she knows the workings at the firehouse as well as what they are experiencing on the job. She did a good job with the storyline and development of the characters. It also helps that the action is hot and steamy. Definitely a book for 18+. While this book is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone and the story itself does not end in a cliffhanger. Though for this book it really helps if you read Playing with Fire (Firehouse Fourteen #2) as it contains some backstory about Dave and what he's going through.
Dave Warren is a paramedic assigned to Firehouse Fourteen. We get to know him in the previous book about his sister Angie and Jay one of the fire fighters on his shift. To say that he is overprotective of her is putting it mildly. He drives her and his friends away with his attitude. We find out that he has been receiving threatening text messages from someone.
Breaking Protocol starts out with him responding to an ATV accident. On that call he meets C.C. a petite, but curvy cop and medic, who is on the helicopter. She wants him from the beginning and the next morning she goes to his house. The storyline moves pretty fast and definitely gets very hot and steamy. The text messages start back up and get more threatening. Will they be able to figure out who is sending them? Will Dave and C.C. admit they need each other?
The author did a fantastic job of giving depth, thoughts, emotions, and struggles to these characters. I can't wait to read future books in this series! I highly recommend that you read this book! I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review but would have purchased it anyway if I had not.
