APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
There’s literally hell to pay in this fast-paced murder mystery from thriller masterminds Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child. When the bodies of two wealthy Manhattanites are discovered, somehow burned to death from the inside out, scruffy but resourceful cops Vincent D’Agosta and Laura Hayward are determined to find an explanation. Luckily, they’re assisted by an old friend, brilliant and eccentric FBI Special Agent Aloysius Pendergast. The trio joins forces for a heart-pounding investigation that takes them from the penthouses of Manhattan to the villas of Italy as they search for a group of men who may be doing the devil’s work. This gripping read pulls in corrupt billionaires, eccentric counts, high-priced assassins, and even a self-ordained preacher who seems terrifyingly convinced that the end is nigh. Preston and Child keep the story moving at a breakneck pace, barreling through twists and turns before reaching a conclusion that left us speechless. They say the devil’s in the details—which is exactly why Pendergast is the right person to crack the case.

As their admirers know, one reason Preston and Child thrillers work is because most feature arguably the most charismatic detective in contemporary fiction: FBI Special

Brimstone did not disappoint.
Preston and Child have an amazing ability to hold you from the beginning to the end of the book. Not one book, but every book they write. You can never guess how the story will end with both their ability to display continuity, suspense and surprise.
