APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
To ransom her kidnapped daughter, a mother must break the law, putting them both at greater risk in this emotionally fraught thriller. When Simone’s college-bound daughter, Lucy, is kidnapped on their vacation in rural South Texas, she’s prepared to pay any ransom. But the kidnappers aren’t interested in money. They want her to carry a mysterious package across the border into Mexico—and things only get darker from there. Best-selling thriller writer Gillian McAllister really amps up the tension, stoking Simone’s maternal fears and desperation into a fevered blaze. While propelling this emotional cat-and-mouse chase forward with wild plot twists, she also captures the desolate isolation of the Texas landscape—all while her strong female characters find opportunities to either redeem themselves or sink further into a deadly trap. Filled with moral conundrums and never-saw-that-coming turns, Caller Unknown keeps tightening the screws.
