Publisher Description
(A standalone Heartbreaker Bay novel)
Meet cute...
Run for the hills—temporarily. That’s Colbie Albright’s plan when she flees New York for San Francisco. Wrangling her crazy family by day and writing a bestselling YA fantasy series by night has taken its toll. In short, Colbie’s so over it that she’s under it. She’s also under the waters of a historic San Francisco fountain within an hour of arrival. Fortunately, the guy who fishes Colbie out has her looking forward to Christmas among strangers. But she’s pretty sure Spencer Baldwin won’t be a stranger for long.
Make merry...
Spence’s commitment to hiding from the Ghosts of Relationships Past means he doesn’t have to worry about the powerful—okay, crazy hot—chemistry he’s got with Colbie. Just because she can laugh at anything, especially herself... just because she’s gorgeous and a great listener…just because she “gets” Spence immediately doesn’t mean he won’t be able to let Colbie go. Does it?
…and hope for a miracle.
Now the clock’s ticking for Colbie and Spence: Two weeks to cut loose. Two weeks to fall hard. Two weeks to figure out how to make this Christmas last a lifetime.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Shalvis's fans will love spending Christmas in San Francisco's Cow Hollow neighborhood with her now-familiar gang of lovable Heartbreaker Bay misfits. New Yorker Colbie Albright has had it up to here with her stressful life. She packs a bag and buys a ticket on the first flight that will take her far from home. When a hurricane thwarts plans for a South Seas vacation, she heads to San Francisco and ends up at the wishing fountain with Heartbreaker Bay regular Spence Baldwin. It's uncharacteristic commitment at first sight for Spence, but Colbie is dead set on a quick holiday fling that will self-destruct on Christmas Eve. As befits a make-nice holiday romance, tension runs a bit slack here, but the successful Shalvis formula of relatable characters, stunning Bay Area scenery, and good old-fashioned bonhomie still works. Delightful and Seductive!
I love this Heartbreaker Bay series and have been excited to read Spence’s story. He is the mysterious nerd, and reluctant matchmaker in previous books, so I knew his story would be delightful and seductive, and it definitely did not disappoint. Spence had a perfect meet cute with Colbie at the fountain. They not only had immediate sparks but Spence felt protective and responsible. Colbie was new in town and needed a place to stay so Spence rented her a room in his building. He acted so out of character that Elle's protective momma bear side came out. She did not want her good friend and boss to be hurt again. But both Spence and Colbie have secrets and are struggling with their current situations. They become the perfect distraction for each other, but is it enough? I have loved Spence from book 1 and Colbie is so perfect for him. They are both so much alike and have great chemistry while allowing each other to be themselves and have fun. There were so many laugh out loud moments, along with some very touching, heartwarming and passionate moments as well. I love how all the Pacific Heights friends impose themselves into each other's lives. They are funny, quirky and caring and add so much to this story. I can't wait to read more about this wonderful group of friends!
Chasing Christmas Eve -Loved it!
I truly enjoyed this book. From the very first page I was hooked and couldn’t put it down! I was sad this book had to end but I’m looking forward to reading more in this series. This is a stand-alone book.
Loved it.
Another page turner. I am not reading these in the order written but that is no problem. They are truly standalones and great books. Absolutely loved this story about Spencer and Colbie. Highly recommended.
