Publisher Description
Fresh start? Check. Quirky neighbors? Check. Finding a dead body? Absolutely NOT in the plan.
Forty-something divorcée Anne Freemont traded her high-pressure city life for the charming mountain town of Carolan Springs, Colorado. Her plan: renovate a Victorian fixer-upper, breathe some fresh mountain air, and enjoy zero drama.
Then a runaway chicken changes everything.
When Anne's goofy and sweet neighbor, Kandi, is accused of murdering the neighborhood grouch, Anne's heart won't let her let it go. Armed with zero detective experience and way too much determination, Anne sets out to help Kandi before Carolan Springs loses its most lovable resident.
In this delightfully funny cozy mystery, you'll find:
• A forty-something amateur sleuth proving that fresh starts begin at midlife
• An unlikely, laugh-out-loud friendship between a heartbroken divorcée and her irrepressibly optimistic young neighbor
• A handsome, grumpy sheriff who really wishes Anne would stay out of his investigation
• Small-town charm with eccentric neighbors, buried secrets, and one very opinionated chicken
• Clean, wholesome mystery and romance subplot with zero "blushes"
• Found-family warmth and feel-good humor in every chapter
• A Colorado mountain setting that'll make you want to visit

Customer Reviews
Worth the read, wholesome
This is a well-crafted, family-friendly book suitable for adults. It would make an excellent gift for a parent, in-laws, an acquaintance, or an adult friend. While the book maintains a family-friendly tone, it delves into mature themes of pain and trauma from the past, making it more appropriate for adults rather than children. I do wish the author had used more captivating and climactic language to keep the reader engaged. Although it's a well-written story, you'll need your own motivation to stay invested. The plot is strong, with unexpected twists and a beautiful ending that caught me by surprise. My only other critique is the artwork chosen for the series, which has a somewhat juvenile feel that might deter some adult readers. If not for the positive reviews, I’m not sure I would have picked it up, even though the first book is free. Overall, well done.

Chickens and Compost
Who doesn’t love a who done it mystery. Cleverly written, little bit of fun, silliness, of could there be love on the horizon and more than one mystery. An all around good read.
