Publisher Description
Thomas Paine wrote this short book, printed in Philadelphia, shortly before the start of the American Revolution. It was widely circulated and reread in the Colonies, and most historians give Paine credit for arousing the will and determination to succeed at any cost among the colonial population. After the war, Paine went to France to assist in the formation of a government following the revolution there. He participated in wriiting "The Rights of Man," included at the end of this book.
