This is a wonderful second book of the series. I loved the characters. You just have to love the alpha he is so sweet. Even though he comes across as the alpha hole as all alphas do, he has such a soft heart, that just makes you sigh. And he totally gets Em and what she needs. And Em makes my heart strings pull for her care for her orphans. Again, as I always say about VT Bonds books, even with the short story, she makes you care about the characters and what happens to them, she has a magic about developing her characters. The further we find out about this world is just crazy and how the other books will evolve I am all in.
