"Christopher Paolini is a true rarity." --The Washington Post
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
Christopher Paolini became a sensation with this landmark fantasy of mythical beasts, treacherous villains, and a young man discovering the skills and courage he never knew he had. During a hunting expedition, teenager Eragon happens upon a strange egg that soon hatches a powerful, wise, and obedient dragon. Now, Eragon must decide if he’s ready to fulfill his destiny and become a Dragon Rider, one of the honorable lawmen tasked with keeping the peace before the vicious Galbatorix became the ruler of the land. Paolini’s thrilling coming-of-age adventure pits a ragtag resistance against the forces of a scarily ruthless empire. We were astounded to learn that Paolini was still a teenager when he wrote this first book in the Inheritance Cycle, although it helps explain the unmistakable realness of his young hero’s emotions. With its vivid world-building and evocative language, Eragon is a brilliant read for fantasy lovers of any age.
While exploring the forest, 15-year-old Eragon discovers an odd blue gemstone a dragon egg, fated to hatch in his care. According to PW, "The author takes the near-archetypes of fantasy fiction and makes them fresh and enjoyable, chiefly through a crisp narrative and a likable hero." Ages 12-up.

Great Fantasy Book
I really loved this book. Eragon is such a lovable character. His relationship with Saphira is perfect. I love her too. I will definitely be continuing the series.
A great book
This is a great book! I highly recommend it.
This book, along with all the others in the series, is really great! There’s a very well-crafted, believable world, and the series uses the classic “rebellion” storyline, yet still manages to make an altogether amazing and unexpected plot.
