Publisher Description

“Once he met her, it was and always would be Lyla.”

They were the gentlemen bad boys of rock. Forming in a garage in a small town in Indiana. Taking their licks on the road. Going balls to the wall until they made their big break.

And then Preacher McCade and the Roadmasters redefined rock and roll.

Guided by their tortured lead singer and songwriter, the Roadmasters changed the face of music in the 80s and 90s. And on their journey to becoming one of the most enduring bands in history—dogged by rumors and myth and fueled by drugs and booze—the Roadmasters had one touchstone.

Lyla.

Preacher’s muse, the love of his life, and the band’s moral compass, from the beginning, Lyla is along for the ride.

But with fame and acclaim in their grasp, they’ve entered the fast lane.

And they didn’t know it, but they were headed for a crash.

Different format

This is not your usual Kristen Ashley book. It’s still a great book, but in a more of a manuscript format. The characters are interesting and it’s well written. Drags a little in the middle, but still worth ready.

Wonderful read but not your typical KA

I purchased this book the day it was released because it’s a Kristen Ashley book. She had warned her Rock Chicks that it wasn’t a typical read. A friend had actually told me she struggled with the book so it took me months to actually read. Boy was I glad I did and told my friend to reread it because she missed so much.
The interview style that occurs in the present with flashbacks to the events are typically not my favorite but KA does this so well that I was riveted. The band became a family that, like any family, has it’s ups and downs. But the love shines through. Preacher and Lyla form the instant love that is so deep you don’t realize there was a time it didn’t exist. But can their love overcome a past that Preacher can’t share? This is a great story of love, friendship, and family!

A absolute pleasure.

I have never written a review. Which is saying something, considering a read books like some people binge watch the Walking Dead...., but I just felt compelled to write a short thank you for this refreshingly gritty story about love, loss, and of course, rock n’ roll. KA’s books are always fun to read, and can evoke all types of emotions, but this book was such a change from her normal story structure, and had me stopping and re-reading lines to make sure I was getting all of the thought provoking details of how life, love and loss is no better expressed and shared than in the words found in stories, put to music. I am currently listing all of the songs mentioned to go back and listen to them with a new found appreciation for those that lived them, wrote about them and then gave them to us to forever enjoy. Cheers!
