Training a rookie firefighter so he can move up the ranks? No problem. Right up until the “new guy” turns out to be a woman who seems determined to wreck every shred of his composure…the hard way.
Firefighter Cole Everett eats, sleeps, and breathes the job. So, when his captain offers him a promotion to the coveted Fairview Rescue Squad, Cole can’t say “yes” fast enough at the chance to prove his skill and save lives. All he’s got to do is train the rookie who will replace him on engine.
Enter Savannah Nelson, a female firefighter who’s stubbornly determined to get the job done by jumping in with both boots first. Her headstrong ways get her in hot water with the squad lieutenant—a.k.a. Cole’s potential new boss. Her dedication? Turns Cole on even more than her curves.
Firefighting is in Savannah’s blood, and she’s not going to let the fact that she’s Station Eight’s first female rookie keep her from fulfilling her family legacy. Keeping her mind on the job instead of her sexy, serious mentor isn’t always easy, but she won’t give up—not even when the house’s most seasoned lieutenant seems bent on trashing her reputation.
To stop a string of possible arsons, Savannah and Cole will need to eliminate every distraction. But the temperature’s rising. Can they stand the heat between them before someone gets burned?

This book ROCKS!!
I was very excited to read this story and it did not disappoint! It was steamy, fun and exciting and I even found myself laughing out loud a couple of times.
Cole is an 8 year veteran of a small town fire department and Savannah is a new candidate and first female to be hired at engine 8. Cole is put in charge of training the new candidate in order to get his promotion to the rescue squad. At first he's not happy with Savannah's strong will and how defensive she is but soon finds himself fighting his attraction to those same qualities. In the process they discover some inconsistencies in the fire investigation reports being filed by a superior and need to work together to figure out the truth.
My thoughts while reading this story were that the research and detailed explanation of the workings of a firehouse, arson investigation and the paces a rookie firefighter faces when joining a new fire house were excellent and understandable to someone who knows nothing about firefighting.
Highly recommended read!
