He’s taking her from the frying pan to the fire…

Carly di Matisse was so desperate to escape the spotlight of her failed marriage to a fellow celebrity chef (make that a lying, cheating fellow celebrity chef) that she left the only place she’s ever called home to hide out in teeny-tiny Pine Mountain. The restaurant’s she’s running now might not compare to her gig in New York City, but at least here, she can pretend to be the tough cookie everyone thinks she is.

At least, until she finds herself stuck with a smokin’ hot contractor who makes her melt like butter. That he wants to avoid relationships as much as she does? Yeah, that heats her up even more.

Jackson Carter is great with his hands. His heart? Not so much. But he’s not the kind of guy to walk away from a worksite, no matter how tempting its occupant. Carly’s smart, sexy, and—best of all—she’s as big a commitment-phobe as he is. It’s the perfect temporary arrangement.

Until they keep coming back for seconds…and thirds…and fourths…and pretty soon, they’re unable to resist the attraction that’s starting to feel an awful lot like the one thing they’re both desperate to avoid.

Chef Gives Some Sugar to Small Town Contractor

I absolutely loved Gimme Some Sugar! Kimberly Kincaid has once again delivered another wonderful romance in Gimme Some Sugar, the third book in her Pine Mountain series. Kimberly Kincaid has once again provided her readers with amazing characters. I love how all the characters in Gimme Some Sugar feel like best friends and I loved catching up with them! Who does not love hot sexy men, strong, passionate females, and loving friends, who always support one another? Kimberly Kincaid continues to deliver all that and so much more. I really enjoyed Gimme Some Sugar and am looking forward to reading the other books in the Pine Mountain series. Kimberly Kincaid has once again shown that she is an amazing storyteller. Gimme Some Sugar did not disappoint, it was impossible to put it down and loved every moment on every page. I enjoy how Kimberly Kincaid writes from the perspective of the main characters. That way you get to know what is going on in each of their minds. Gimme Some Sugar is a wonderful not looking for love story and is filled with heartbreaking and heartwarming moments. I love the lighter moments where I find myself smiling and laughing out loud and the bittersweet moments that pull at my heartstrings causing me to sigh, as I read the heartbreaking moments. Gimme Some Sugar be filled with such moments, and with so much more. It is filled with all those things that we have come to love and expect in a Kimberly Kincaid love story, especially the poignant and bittersweet moments that filled this page turner. My favorite part of the story is how the picture on the cover fits the characters and the title of the book is incorporated into the love story with a simple statement from Sloane. Who does not love a story about love at first sight? Gimme Some Sugar is the story of Carlotta “Carly” di Matisse, executive chef at La Dolce Vita the restaurant at the Pine Mountain Resort, and Jackson Carter, contractor. Carly recently relocated to Pine Mountain after getting fired from her last job at Gracie’s in New York where she worked with her soon to be ex-husband, Travis. Carly’s dream is to bide her time in Pine Mountain until a better offer comes up in New York. Carly and Jackson meet when Jackson is hired to repair storm damage to the deck on her rental home. Jackson scares her when he knocks on the door. Carly and Jackson spend more time together while he is repairing her deck and things change between them. Neither Carly nor Jackson is looking for love since Carly is not officially divorced yet and ghosts from Jackson’s past prevent him from wanting to fall in love. I love Sloane’s advice to Carly about Jackson and looking for her “swan” and how Carly cannot seem to remember the bird. I love all the food puns and innuendos that happen in the conversations between Carly and Jackson. A health scare involving Carly’s mother, that Carly feels that she is the cause of, has them heading to New York, even though that means long days for Jackson to complete his current project. I love the conversation that Carly has in the hospital with her mama. Carly’s favorite childhood memories are gardening with her grandmother. She would love to use more fresh produce in her dishes at the resort. I love how Carly and Jackson work together to develop a plan to help Carly create a garden on the resort’s premises and make her dreams come true. Three simple words and then a surprise plot twist changes everything between Carly and Jackson, and puts their relationship in jeopardy, especially when Carly is offered a job at Gracie’s as the sole chef, since Travis was fired, and Carly is left heartbroken. I love the heartbreaking heart-to-heart conversations that Jackson has with his mother and his friend; Shane that helps Jackson realize that he is in love with Carly. I love everything that Jackson does to convince Carly that he is in love with her and wants a relationship with her and that Carly shares her feelings with Jackson, as well as her exciting news that she is staying in Pine Mountain. I loved catching up with both Bellamy and Shane from Turn Up the Heat, Bellamy works for Carly and Shane is Jackson’s best friend. I love how the story’s ending hints at what happens next in the series. Gimme Some Sugar contains all the things that I have come to love most and expect in a Kimberly Kincaid story, romance, great characters and setting, bittersweet moments and the plot twist that ties it all together. Amazing story. It was impossible to put it down. Highly recommend this wonderful romance. I am looking forward to reading the other books in the series.

All the emotions, the connections and the swoons

I loved Carly and Jackson’s small town romance with a side of relationship avoidance. This is a heartwarming, funny and steamy romance. Carly and Jackson are portrayed as real, relatable people who have flaws, but are really trying to just do their best as messy humans living in a messy world. Jackson is a contractor in small town Pine Mountain. Due to his past, he thinks being single is the best choice for him. Carly is a well known chef from NYC. Escaping from her manipulative cheating husband and former business partner, she takes over as chef for the restaurant in the resort located in Pine Mountain. Their meet cute involves horrible singing, revealing clothing, and a construction estimate. There is instant and explosive chemistry and attraction between them but there is also lots of baggage and life circumstances holding each of them back. Despite neither one of them being interested in a relationship, each interaction nudges them closer and closer toward their HEA. The story was well written and included witty dialogue, three dimensional characters who grow, and an engaging storyline as told through sweet moments, steamy scenes, chuckles, supportive friends, messy families, painful pasts, secrets, surprises, big feels, and all the love. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

A terrific small-town romance

GIMME SOME SUGAR is the second full-length story in Kimberly Kincaid’s Pine Mountain series. Chef Carly di Matisse is the new resort chef, licking her figurative wounds and rebuilding her reputation after her can’t-be-soon-enough dishonorable ex-husband both broke her heart and dragged her name through the dirt. Jackson Carter is an excellent contractor who loves his family fiercely and guards his own heart just as carefully, not wanting to ever repeat the mistakes of his father, who did a real number on those he claimed to love.

Carly and Jackson build a friendship that fairly quickly intensifies into much more, and though their lips keep saying, “we’re just friends,” the rest of them is writing those benefits checks like they’re going out of style.

Kimberly Kincaid balances the emotional intensity and passionate expressions of it with the warmth of the comforting and sometimes agonizing familial relationships and friends who call us out and defend us in equal measure. Gimme Some Sugar is a terrific small-town romance!
