Publisher Description

Guard against any danger. Especially if it comes from within.

Detective Matteo Garza doesn’t just do the job—he is the job.

He’s learned the hard way that work and pleasure can’t co-exist.

So when his little sister’s best friend accidentally uncovers a money laundering scheme

led by one of Remington’s most cold-blooded criminals,

Garza vows to keep things strictly business as he keeps her safe.

No matter how much the quirky mathematician

makes him feel things best left buried.

No matter how much she makes him want.

Delia Sutton knows she’s not like most people,

just like she knows she needs to forget her ages-old crush on Matteo

and focus on survival.

But the closer they get, the bolder she becomes—

the more she breaks down his carefully crafted barriers to discover the man beneath.

Danger is closer than either of them could possibly imagine

and no one can be trusted.

Delia needs a guardian to fight by her side, and Matteo will do anything to protect her.

No matter who the enemy is.

The Guardian is a scorching forbidden lovers romantic suspense featuring a grumpy Alpha hero who would walk into fire to save the woman he loves and a smart-is-sexy number-nerd heroine who would save him right back. Equal parts heart-pounding suspense and steamy romance. Complete standalone with no cheating and a full (but hard-fought!) HEA.

Great romantic suspense

This is my first Kimberly Kincaid romantic suspense book. What a FANTASTIC read and GREAT writer.

This story between Matteo and Delia is steamy hot and very suspenseful with many thrilling twists and turns.

Matteo is a grumpy detective trying to protect Delia. Not to mention, Delia is his baby sisters long time best friend. Delia has uncovered a money laundering operation in the firm she works at. While Matteo is working with Delia to take down these dangerous criminals, Delia is finally able to break through her childhood crushes grumpy exterior. Their story and chemistry is super hot and definitely a must read.

I was given this ARC from the author. I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

I Loved It All!

This was my first Kimberly Kincaid book. I loved every minute, word, page, whatever you want to call it; I loved it all!

Matteo Garza and Delia Sutton were the perfect match. Delia’s quirky, brainy character meshed well with Garza’s brawn and cunning mind. The way he protected Delia was swoon-worthy stuff. They were the unexpected thing that came into their lives and made it better. Friggin beautiful.

I will definitely be going back to read the other books in the series.

The Grumpy Detective and the Numbers Lady.

This is the second story in the Intelligent Series, and it grabs you right away.

Matteo Garza is a detective who gets twitchy when he’s bored. Right now the unit is going through a dry spell, and the quiet and the frenzy of a baby shower for another detective has him right on the edge. He’s a single guy, who wants to stay that way.

Delia Sutton is a genius with numbers. She is Vice President of Finance at the company where she works, and right now totally confused about numbers she’s seeing in a report. There is discrepancies in several places, but the numbers at the end are correct. She consults with her boss, Peyton Willoughby, who assures her it’s fine and will take care of it. Delia is not convinced, and downloads all the info to a drive stick. Then craziness breaks out. She is violently mugged, her laptop, phone and wallet stolen, and ends up in the hospital with a head injury. Detective Garza gets involved because of his sister, and he and Delia spend a lot of time together working on the mugging. It turns out there is way more involved in this incident that slowly starts coming together, along with Delia and Matteo being drawn closer.

Danger, action and a sexy love story emerge in this exciting story. It hold your attention well, and the side characters are great. It can be read as a standalone, but the first book is equally enjoyable. Looking forward to the next in the series!
