Henan Sights

Henan Province (Yu for short), is located in the middle-down reaches of the Yellow River, it got the name because its most area is situated at the southern side of the Yellow River, and as the centre of China is “Yu Prefecture”, so it has the name of “Zhongzhou (central prefecture)”, “Zhongyuan (central plains)”. The total area of the province is 167,000 square kilometres, with a population of 95.55 million, administering 17 cities of Zhengzhou (also the provincial capital), Kaifeng, Luoyang, Pingdingshan, Jiaozuo, Hebi, Xinxiang, Anyang, Puyang, Xuchang, Luohe, Sanmenxia, Nanyang, Shangqiu, Xinyang, Zhoukou and Zhumadian, and Jiyuan City, a municipality directly under the provincial government.
