Publisher Description
What if Cinderella fell for the handsome prince’s… sister?
Cynthia lives a life of drudgery, toiling for her stepmother and stepsisters without receiving gratitude or pay. Every day is the same… until a royal retinue sweeps into town, inviting every unwed maiden to vie for the hand of the visiting prince.
The moment she lays eyes on the prince’s beautiful sister, Cynthia is smitten. She’s never been to a ball, and she’s determined not to miss this one. But when her family refuses to allow her to attend—not that Cynthia even has a gown to wear—it will take a miracle to escape the attic and catch the eye of the princess who holds the key to her heart!
Customer Reviews
As always, Erica Ridley’s books leave me with a smile on my face
I think the first LGBTQ Regency I read was Pembroke Park by the mysterious Michelle Martin, who seems to have disappeared.
Erica’s LGBTQ novels are low on angst and high in sweet joy, and this retelling of Cinderella is no different. There are the known obstacles to overcome, and they are.
Too bad the cover artist or the art editor didn’t read the book. Cynthia’s dress is in shades of blue with puff sleeves, not a shoulderless pouf bodice with a single layer skirt, all in copper/bronze/burnt orange, belonging in another century. I love the color, but it’s not the blue she wore.
Princess Charming
This is a retelling of the Cinderella fairy tale with a twist. All the elements are here. Wicked step-family, charming royal, jewel-encrusted slippers, and a dash from the ball at midnight. The twist? Cynthia’s true love is Princess Charming. The prince gets the consolation prize.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Her princess at midnight
A reverse Cinderella story. Everyone is excited to see and meet the prince, except Cynthia. She wants to meet his sister the princess!
