Mike Mentzer was the real king
I'm now 59 years old and have used Mikes methods since I was in my early 20's. I'm not now or was I ever a pro body builder. I realized early on that I didn't have the genetics just has most iron slingers do not. However, that hasn't stopped me from becoming the best I could be using the Mentzer HIT training. For older guys like me, the methods are paying even greater dividends than when I was young because of the brief, intense and infrequent workouts I take. I'm not sure if Mike intended his programs to be so valuable for an older trainee but, they are! Reading Mikes words still give me the same fired up mind set as they did 35 years ago. I still am deeply saddened when I realize Mike is no longer with us but, at the same time honored and glad that he touched my life in such a positive way.

Really enjoyed this read. I’ve implemented these principles and have found my strength and density have persisted even while in a caloric deficit. Wish I’d implemented Mike’s principles years ago. I was in the gym 6 days a week for 2 hours only to see decent results which could have been obtained in half the time now.
