Publisher Description
Thank goodness Christmas only comes once a year, because Barbara just wants to survive it and move on already.
Barbara's year has not been going well. Both her parents died, she gained a lot of weight, and her husband left her. And now, she's stuck attending a million holiday parties for work. . .with both her ex and his new girlfriend. She's not feeling the holiday cheer, that's for sure.
Bentley, on the other hand, has realized that while his life is pretty good, he really wants to settle down with an amazing woman. Unfortunately, while he's a whiz at making money, he's not so great at choosing people to date. He and his old friend Barbara make a deal. He'll be her date to the dreaded holiday parties, and in exchange, she'll help him weed through the dross to find the shimmering treasure he wants to build a life with.
It doesn't take Bentley very long to realize that Barbara's the one he wants, but she's not as quick to believe that she's good enough for the handsome billionaire Bentley. Can he convince her that she's everything he needs in time to spruce up the holiday season? Or will her miserable year come to just as tragic a close?

Cute!
What a cute story! I love that each of the main characters had some growing to do, and I love how supportive they all were! I’m looking forward to the next book in this series!
Loved it
I was a little disappointed and wary going into this because it features the “aunt” rather than one of Emerson’s siblings. But! I instantly was drawn in and I love it. When her husband cheats on her, our heroine Barbara ends up divorced – but still working at the same place as him along with his new girlfriend. When the holidays come up and they need to attend Christmas parties, she’s going to be the third wheel unless she can find someone to go with her. Enter Bentley. They’ve known each other for over a decade and have been friends. When her best friend’s husband sets up an online dating profile for him and their profiles are matched together, they start fake dating for her work and she helps him vet his dates.
Barbara has a very low self-esteem and I adore how Bentley is determined to get her to see herself like he does. He is absolutely adorable and there are so many great lessons in here for teenagers and women who deal with self-esteem issues. Especially over body image. I cannot wait to start the next book! I love the fostering theme, found family, and more. This is a just kisses romance.
A Christmas story that works any time of the year
This book is part of the Scarsdale Foster series but this time we are not focusing on one of the foster children but their friends. Barbara is Seren’s best friend and she finds herself in a pickle when she figures out her husband is now her ex but as they work together she is forced to keep putting that smile on her face. Especially with it being the holiday season it means parties she already doesn’t want to attend she now needs to attend with him and his girlfriend. Yikes. But what is a girl to do when she loves her job and doesn’t want her ex to win. She finds herself a plus one to take to those events.
Cue in Bentley he is the best friend of Dave. Bentley is smart, handsome, and he knows it. His greatest joy is to throw his money around and parade the girls on his arm. But as much of a player he is, Bentley also is there for a friend in need and when he finds out that Barbara needs a plus one he offers his help.
This is a fun little holiday read with the fake dating to a happy ending. Barbara and Bentley have made appearances in the prior books but you could read this on your own. I loved this story because once more B.E. Baker starts the year off with a hook that got me and kept me engaged throughout. It was beautiful and don’t be put out that it is a holiday story you can read anytime of the year.
