Publisher Description
He stopped a robbery. Now he’s fighting for the girl no one else will.
Chase McCabe was supposed to be driving to a family reunion he didn’t want—one more McCabe mess to manage, one more reminder of the life he walked away from.
Then he steps into a gas station robbery…and realizes the “criminal” is a teenage girl with fear in her eyes and nowhere left to run.
Billy Jo has been written off by the system and hunted by the people who’ve used her. Turning her over and driving on should be the easy choice. But Chase has never been good at walking away—not from trouble, not from broken things, and not from someone who’s been abandoned.
When he takes Billy Jo home, he collides with Rose—beautiful, guarded, and carrying secrets that make her flinch at every knock on the door. She isn’t looking for rescue, and she doesn’t trust men who promise safety. But Billy Jo needs them both, and the longer they stay, the clearer it becomes: the danger didn’t end with the arrest.
Someone made a call. Someone is watching. And if Chase wants to protect the fragile family forming under his roof, he’ll have to face threats that don’t fight fair—and the McCabe past that never stays buried.
Because this time, doing the right thing could cost him everything.

Another Stellar Read
Lorhainne Eckhart again delivers an interesting story that allows the reader to feel like they are there. I always feel "comfortable" reading her stories-like I'm with a good friend.
We find out enough about Chase McCabe -and what he feels he needs to morally do during his life, without feeling like we are being preached to. It was a quick read for me -as most of her books are-but an enjoyable one nonetheless. Her interesting storytelling ability, and splitting up the various members of a family into different books, leaves me feeling satisfied at the end, like I've seen a beginning, middle and end, succinctly done!
I received an advance copy for an honest review.
