Publisher Description
When Anne escapes her old life for a fresh start in small-town Colorado, the last thing she expects is a murder investigation—or a quirky neighbor who needs her help.
Newly divorced Anne Freemont is ready to trade big-city chaos for the peace and quiet of Carolan Springs, Colorado. Her plan? Renovate her charming Victorian house, enjoy her neighbors, and finally breathe easy.
But on her very first morning, a chicken dispute between her quirky young neighbor Kandi and the cantankerous Mr. Rogers lands Anne face-first in a compost pile. Things go from messy to murder when Mr. Rogers turns up dead—and Kandi's accused of killing him over a rogue hen named Rusty.
Anne knows sweet, chicken-loving Kandi couldn't hurt a fly (though she might give an earful to anyone who threatens her feathered friends). Determined to clear her new friend's name, Anne finds herself playing amateur detective in a town where everyone knows everyone's business... and someone's hiding a deadly secret.
Can Anne crack the case before Kandi ends up behind bars? Or will her dream of a peaceful small-town life get permanently scrambled?
A delightful cozy mystery featuring quirky characters, a lovable chicken, and a murder that'll keep you guessing! Perfect for readers who love light-hearted whodunits with heart, humor, and a touch of chaos.

Customer Reviews
Worth the read, wholesome
This is a well-crafted, family-friendly book suitable for adults. It would make an excellent gift for a parent, in-laws, an acquaintance, or an adult friend. While the book maintains a family-friendly tone, it delves into mature themes of pain and trauma from the past, making it more appropriate for adults rather than children. I do wish the author had used more captivating and climactic language to keep the reader engaged. Although it's a well-written story, you'll need your own motivation to stay invested. The plot is strong, with unexpected twists and a beautiful ending that caught me by surprise. My only other critique is the artwork chosen for the series, which has a somewhat juvenile feel that might deter some adult readers. If not for the positive reviews, I’m not sure I would have picked it up, even though the first book is free. Overall, well done.

Chickens and Compost
Who doesn’t love a who done it mystery. Cleverly written, little bit of fun, silliness, of could there be love on the horizon and more than one mystery. An all around good read.
