The Shadow of the Gods The Shadow of the Gods

Publisher Description

Set Norse-inspired world, and packed with myth, magic, and vengeance, The Shadow of the Gods begins an epic fantasy saga from bestselling author John Gwynne.

A century has passed since the gods fought and drove themselves to extinction. Now only their bones remain, promising great power to those brave enough to seek them out.

As whispers of war echo across the land of Vigrid, fate follows in the footsteps of three warriors: a huntress on a dangerous quest, a noblewoman pursuing battle fame, and a thrall seeking vengeance among the mercenaries known as the Bloodsworn.

All three will shape the fate of the world as it once more falls under the shadow of the gods.

"A masterfully crafted, brutally compelling Norse-inspired epic." —Anthony Ryan The Greatest Sagas Are Written in Blood

Great book and story

This is a great book I normally don’t read books. The author had me from the beginning can’t wait to complete the series.

Well written women and good structure

If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. This series thus far is more than a little cliché and isn’t making any crazy waves in the genre but it’s well done. Its biggest selling point is its cast full of strong women which are sorely missing in a lot of fantasy series. Other than that though I can’t say anything about this book really stands out. It’s still a fun story and entertaining, it won’t knock your socks off or make you think too hard though.

Incredible!

I have to say this book is outstanding. I had a little trouble keeping track of all the characters at first because it switches between three different points of view from chapter to chapter, but once I got a handle on them I was all in. Gwynne’s storytelling is impeccable. His descriptions and pacing is perfect. The chapter lengths are just right. I Sailed through this book and am jumping right into the next one.

I highly recommend this is you love Norse mythology or Vikings.
