Publisher Description

An Apple Books Classic edition.

Phileas Fogg is a sensible, well-off man who uncharacteristically accepts a huge bet that he can’t travel around the world in 80 days. Along with his valet Passepartout, Fogg sets about to do the impossible via boats, trains, and even an elephant.

Since its publication in 1872, Around the World remains one of the most famous adventure stories out there. Jules Verne has a gift for weaving entire worlds with words, and in Fogg he’s crated a hero for anyone who’s ever dreamed of leaving their humdrum life behind.

A Moment in Time

What I liked about this book was the attention to detail regarding geography, time schedules, and culture. I didn’t like some of the overt racism, but it was written at the height of Imperial English rule when the sun never set on their empire. Many of the English-authored books in the era have the same vulgar references to natives and savages and heathen customs, so I can’t fault this one for being in the same vein. As a cartographer, this novel would make an excellent story map and it would be a grand way to present it.

Wonderful!

This electronic edition is awesome! The TOC works great, it's free, and it's just plain cool. And even if you don't like it, it isn't a risk. So the only question left is, why haven't you downloaded this already?

You CANNOT beat the classics!!

By profession, I am a teacher, and I am constantly telling my students that books are tickets to all types of magical adventures - the mind is a grand playground of which their imaginations may play freely!! "Around the World in 80 Days" will NEVER grow old. It provides such great adventures for the reader, challenges their vocabulary skills, their geography, and even they history - all while spinning a tell of adventure & humor. The very reason we call it a classic.
