Publisher Description

Laurence Rutherford, the Marquess of Westcott has always enjoyed music as his mistress, hoping for his life to be quiet, ordered and filled with the rhythmic sounds, but growing up with the Blackenhawke brothers has not always allowed that to be the case. So when his close friend Nicholas Blackenhawke asks him to take his wife's sister, an escaped slave from America into hiding at his quiet manor house in the country, he jumps at the chance to spend time with the black blue-eyed beauty, entertaining her in the peace of his music.

A simple request until he finds he is spending more time keeping his emotions in check, instead of watching the approaching danger that not only has the power to shatter their peace, but to kill them all.

Jo KS ,

Preach, preach, preach

I read books to escape today’s world. This book preaches the author’s beliefs about how today’s societies should function ad nauseam. Chapter after chapter…ugh.
Anyone ever hear of the word “sustainability” in a romance novel? Me neither. Nothing wrong with sustainability - it just doesn’t fit in a 19th century romance story line. Author if you really believe in ESG then write a non-fiction book about ESG and limit it in the romance stories.

I would also say only half of this book is devoted to the two main characters which is really unfortunate. I would have loved to read more about them - their love of music and Laurence’s secret music room for example. Blasé underdeveloped main characters. Turned out to be such a boring book after the previous books in the Mornington Park series and definitely not worth the money or my time.

I will purchase one more book to see how Oliver’s story line (a secondary character) turns out. If it is the same agenda I am done with this author even though it was enjoyable getting to know the Blackenhawke family before this book.
