Publisher Description

Sergeant Joe’s Boys are back! Bestselling author Alexis Morgan delivers a tender and inspiring novel about Mikhail, a battle-scarred firefighter, and the sensitive young woman who slips inside the walls around his heart.

As a child, Mikhail Wanjek couldn’t save his drug-addled mother; as a young man, he left a promising military career because he couldn’t defend the innocent victims of war. When Mikhail’s feeling like a failure, not even the love of his adoptive parents and loyal brothers can console him. But after he volunteers to help his beautiful brunette neighbor install a fence around her yard, Mikhail begins to heal. He wants to shield her pure, unabashed lust for life from the darkness—including his own.

Successful heart surgery has allowed Amy Short to finally set out on her own, apart from her loving but overprotective family. Now she’s experiencing new thrills with the chiseled fireman next door, from riding on the back of Mikhail’s Harley to late nights full of passion. Still, he refuses to open up emotionally, and with Amy’s history, she’s not willing to wait around for Mikhail to change. What she needs to do is show him that together they can build something that will last forever.

“Morgan is a talented writer who, with a slight turn of the phrase, is capable of showing the intensity of love involved in various relationships.”—Romance.io

“I absolutely loved Tino’s story! . . . Each book of the Sergeant Joe’s Boys series is about a different brother and can be read as a stand-alone. Although, I do recommend reading them in order. As to not give anything away. The writing is great and the story flowed well.”—Once Upon An Alpha

Heartwarming!

This was a heartwarming and tender story about two neighbors that are instantly attracted to one another, but each of them have flaws. Two beautiful flawed characters that come from very different backgrounds, but who are very much alike.
These characters are well developed, lovable and real, their journey and issues tugged at my heart strings and made me cry. Afraid to hurt the other because of their flaws, they try to hold back their feelings and the truth. But will they be able to truly fall in love, if they don’t know everything?
An amazing storyline with ups and downs, that will help them grow stronger, as well as closer, helping to heal those flaws with the power of friendship, passion and love.
This is the first story that I have read by Alexis Morgan and it was deeply emotional, heartbreaking and Poignant. It really brought home the importance of living every moment with no regrets, loving passionately and taking the time to truly enjoy life with the ones you love.

A Totally Compelling Read!!!

This is the third novel in the Sergeant Joe’s Boys series, but for me, this is the first book in the series that I have read. I have to say, not having read the previous two books did not detract from my enjoyment of this book in any way whatsoever. It did, however, make me very anxious to read the first two books in the series, because if they're anything like this book, they will be fantastic. I thoroughly enjoyed this book from start to finish. The plot was interesting and the characters were complex and well thought out. These characters really draw you into the story, and you just can't help but become invested in their lives. I was hooked from very early on and remained riveted to the very last page. This is a story of love overcoming hardship; one that highlights the struggle many of our veterans go through, and one that shows how love can truly help to manage the unmanageable. It is compelling and provocative yet endearing and enchanting in its own way. I would highly recommend this book and look forward to reading more in the series.

Fantastic Read

I LOVED this book !! This is my favorite book in the series. I loved Misha and Amy and loved their story.

Misha is the youngest of Joe's sons and the last home after 10 years in the Marine Corp. He hasn't transition well so far but he seems to be trying. His job as a firefighter seems to exacerbate his stress at times. Between his childhood and his service, he's carrying a lot. And he misses Joe. His life changes when he gets a new neighbor next door Amy. Amy wakes him up bright and early one morning after a very bad shift on duty with a plate of brownies, introducing herself, babbling about the fence and he's half asleep. Doesn't know what he nodded his head to, he just wants to shut the door and go back to sleep, but not until he grabs a few brownies.

This is first time Amy has been on her own, she moves away from family, buys a house and is determined to live her life. She sets firm boundaries with her parents and her 4 brothers. She keeps them pretty much in the dark. Especially after she buys a motorcycle after riding with Mikhail. She's keeping some things from him, I felt it was because she didn't want him to look at her differently.
And he's keeping a lot from her. His temper, which she manages to sooth, even after a bad flare up.
These two start working toward something, neither is sure what but it works.

It was great to see the brothers again and Ricky, Jack's son. And their wives make a brief appearance.
Joe's wife, their Mom is present in this book also. She worries about Misha and she can read him like a book. She tries to encourage him with Amy but seems to fall on deaf ears at times. Jack seems to take great pleasure in busting his chops and it does cause friction. The bottom drops out when two of her brothers make a surprise visit, they have a huge blow out and she takes off on her bike, telling him she'll meet him at Tom's. That's when her brothers spill her private business and Misha is totally thrown off his game and angry. Man is his angry. He's cold, defensive and shuts her right down. He's not talking to her, she takes this time to go home and square things with her family. Her mother is a thorn in the backside. Seriously. After spending a couple days cleaning out the rest of her room, she decides to head back home. And prepared to move on. Meanwhile Misha has had his come to Jesus moment also. You have to read it to fully appreciate the whole story.

Alexis writes a great story and this one was just perfection, it had it all. Steam, laughs, dogs and wise cracking brothers. I have really loved this series and recommend each book. Doesn't really matter what order, just read them.
