Publisher Description
This breakout romantasy sensation by Rachel Schneider that has taken the Internet by storm bursts with suspense, romance, and a breathtaking twist you won't see coming.
Even though she's not one of them, Brynn has spent her life among the Alaha, training to be a guard and waiting for the chance to attend the annual market hosted by the Kenta–the very same people who exiled her adopted community to a life at sea. Going to the market is a rite of passage eagerly anticipated by all young guards, but Brynn does not anticipate breaking a century-long peace treaty while there. Nor does she plan for the intense encounter with an enemy soldier that now threatens to unwind the fragile coexistence between their people–and everything Brynn once believed about herself to be true.
Brynn's loyalty to the Alaha is tested when the truth of her identity is brought to light by this soldier who's taken an oath to bring her back to where she belongs. Narrowly escaping death on the violent high seas, Brynn's connection to the Alaha is further tested when she learns about the world of magic she's been denied. She was once certain of her fate and where she belonged, but the dark, knowing eyes of this stranger have her questioning everything, including her heart.
Packed with knife fights and seafaring adventure, METAL SLINGER is the smash-hit start to the romantic fantasy duology, the Fire & Metal series.

4 ⭐️
I'm giving this one a strong four stars. The beginning hooked me immediately, which I always appreciate. While it doesn't quite measure up to the epic scale of books like Fourth Wing or Throne of Glass, it's still a book I'd recommend. The ending delivered a jaw-dropping twist that truly shocked me and even broke my heart a bit. I have a feeling this will lead to some heavy, necessary conversations in book two, and I'm on the edge of my seat to find out what happens next.

Never saw it coming. The way the author draws you in for a happy ending that you are actually accepting with a warm embrace. Everything was so nice. Like waiting for a freshly baked yellow cake to be pulled out of the oven. But then..and then.. the statements that never made sense until it all made sense…and it just crushes you! The urge to just throw the book and scream is very real. It will leave you stunned. Fuming. Just call your bestie and say *#%. How could she do this to us? You just want to somehow erase the last 5-10 min of the ending, and just let it end on a high note. But then…and the torture of waiting for the next book, it’s twisted really. I love it! Hooked. Eagerly looking forward to the next twists. June cannot come fast enough.
Want the next one.
The story line is amazing and I can’t wait to read the next one. Please work on editing. Annoys the piss out of me.
