Publisher Description
This fabulously fun Regency romp featuring witty banter, a dash of mystery, lots of kissing, and an adorable hedgehog, will bring all the adventure you've been waiting for!
Marjorie Wynchester has always let her siblings take the lead when it comes to planning their investigations. But someone in London is trying to pass off counterfeits, and this time she's the only one with the skill needed to find the culprit. Soon, all the evidence leads her straight to Lord Adrian Webb.
Adrian is a roguish scoundrel of the first order, but he never meant to get caught up in a forgery scheme. Especially one that’s snowballed out of control. Now a blackmailer is out to ruin him, and the most alluring woman he's ever met is trying to put him behind bars.
Every time Marjorie thinks she has Adrian figured out, her assumptions turn on their head. He’s a heartless scoundrel. A loyal brother. A smooth liar. A good kisser. Er…wait… Is winning her affections just one more attempt to avoid the law? Or is it possible he’s not such a rogue after all?
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Bestseller Ridley hits a rare false note in her fourth Wild Wynchesters Regency (after Nobody's Princess). Marjorie Wynchester, a hard-of-hearing artist whose synesthesia is her secret joy, is generally happy as a wallflower, despite a certain wistfulness around her more extroverted vigilante siblings. When impoverished widow Mrs. Lachlan comes to the Wynchester family for help with a swindling pawnbroker passing counterfeit coins, however, it's Marjorie's time to shine. A skilled forger, she is the Wynchester most capable of righting this wrong. Venturing disguised into the criminal lair, she finds a scenery-chewing villain—and Adrian Webb, a disgraced lord, apparent co-conspirator to the pawnbroker, and embodied Adonis. Will he be obstacle, ally, both, or more? Ridley delivers her trademark shenanigans and feels, but the plot's urgency hinges on the widow's increasing desperation as her rent comes due, putting a clock on Marjorie's investigation. Though the wealthy Wynchesters could simply float Mrs. Lachlan the money in the meantime, that's an idea they raise and promptly, illogically dismiss, making the high stakes ring hollow. This nagging plot hole hobbles the usual joyous escapism of a Wynchester outing. Readers will hope for a return to form in future installments.

All the stars!!
Every time I read a book in the series I think to myself, this, this is my favorite Wynchester. And then the next one comes out and clearly, THIS is my favorite Wynchester! Well, friends, to no ones shock, Marjorie is my favorite Wynchester!! She is so thoughtful and giving and kind and creative but also tentative, doesn't really know her place in the family, especially with everyone moving forward. Even though we can see her importance, she struggles....until she finally stands up for herself and informs everyone she's taking the lead on a case for the first time ever! Watching her learn about herself and learn to trust herself was so lovely, I cheered every step of the way!
Also, just need to talk about Adrian for a minute because WOW! Our man pretends to be this dissolute no good rake and instead he's just trying to protect his sister. And now Marjorie. My heart. But he's been hurt so many times, it's hard to trust others when you're used to taking care of everything by yourself.
Overall, I absolutely loved this book. I only wish Marjorie's ability to see emotions as color was a bigger part of it, because that was beautiful. All the stars!
So many series, so little time
If Erica Ridley is the author you know you have a more-than-satisfying read in your hands. Always an entertaining mix of the consequences of breaking those rigid Regency rules, a scoundrel who skirts a little too close to danger, and a woman who does her best to persevere in spite of those darn rules. Each series and each story are unique, but you can count on a good time from the first page to the last. When the Wild Wynchesters are involved, however, even though you know it will be exciting and entertaining you have no idea what this family will get up to, who and what they’ll be involved with, and what crazy things will happen.
No shrinking violet, Marjorie still usually takes a back seat during the family’s investigations. This time, however, she’s the one with the skill to identify counterfeits so suddenly she’s front and center. No problem, except she wasn’t prepared for the attraction between her and Lord Adrian Webb. Not very convenient, make that certainly inconvenient, but doesn’t look like it can be ignored for long. As for Adrian, he was banished by his father several years ago for conduct unbecoming someone of his position, for being a rogue. Turns out he’s not as clever a rogue as the thought he was, though, and now he’s being blackmailed into some very dangerous activity.
My Rogue to Ruin is a great addition to the series. The family pops in and out, Marjorie keeps coping, Adrian desperately wants to earn a place back into his sister’s life – and stay alive – and the danger and mystery surrounding the counterfeiting keep you turning pages. Not to mention looking forward to more steamy encounters between Marjorie and Adrian.
Thanks to author Erica Ridley for providing an advance copy of My Rogue to Ruin as part of her review crew. If you haven’t read the other books in the series I recommend you read them as soon as you finish this book. I voluntarily leave this review; all opinions are my own.
My rogue to ruin
The Winchesters are at it again. This time Majorie steps up to prove to herself she is good at really helping too. When she meets Adrian she finds out things aren’t at all what they appeared to be. Soon they plot together to help others and soon find out they have to save their selfs. Adventure, romance and blackmail are entwined in this story.
