Publisher Description
One of the most revered names in science fiction and fantasy, the incomparable Roger Zelazny was honored with numerous prizes—including six Hugo and three Nebula Awards—over the course of his legendary career. Among his more than fifty books, arguably Zelazny’s most popular literary creations were his extraordinary Amber novels.
Now officially licensed by the Zelazny estate, the first book in this legendary series is now finally available electronically.
Carl Corey wakes up in a secluded New York hospital with amnesia. He escapes and investigates, discovering the truth, piece by piece: he is really Prince Corwin, of Amber, the one true world of which our Earth is just a shadow. He is one of nine men who might rule Amber, if he can fight his way past the armies of his older brother Eric.
Customer Reviews
Very good
This is a good book, well written, with an interesting, unpredictable plot.
It’s unfortunate that the publishers of science fiction and fantasy feel that the way to go with the cover art is to hire the cheapest, most amateur artist they can find. Don’t let the bed cover art fool you. This is an excellent book despite the art on the cover.
A fantasy fiction classic!
Book one of Zelazny’s unforgettable fantasy saga of Machiavellian intrigue and worlds beyond imagination. I envy those readers who will discover this and read it for the first time!
Ouch
The cover art makes my eyes bleed, and I honestly have no idea why the reviews are so good. It actually starts off interesting, like a noir mystery, but then turns into a bad CS Lewis novel. I’ve heard the female characters get better, but for the entirety of this first book, they are dismissed from the main character’s reasoning because they don’t have real opinions. At least it only took me 4 hours to read.
