“A gripping, complex and heart-wrenching story that is as provocative as it is thrilling. Klass can weave a tale like few others.” —David Baldacci
A massive FBI manhunt is underway for an elusive and terrifyingly adept serial bomber. He's just struck his sixth target, Idaho's Boon Dam, killing a dozen innocent people. But the bomber, who the press has dubbed "Green Man," insists these drastic acts of violence--each one carefully selected to destroy a target that threatens the environment--are necessary to draw the world's attention to the climate-change emergency.
The FBI has no real leads. It's as if Green Man can predict every step of their investigation, skillfully evading all their standard tactics.
Until young agent Tom Smith approaches the task-force leader with an unexpected insight. Tom, a computer programmer by training, may be the only person with the unique skill set needed to catch Green Man before he strikes again....
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
This entertaining if predictable thriller from YA author Klass (Losers Take All) pits FBI data analyst Tom Smith against Green Man, an eco-terrorist (or heroic environmental activist, depending on one's perspective) who has targeted industries and sites that are hastening humankind's seemingly unstoppable march toward extinction. After the destruction of a dam on Idaho's Snake River, which had been stopping wild salmon runs, Smith, whose estranged father is a retired FBI agent, is put on the Green Man Task Force. His instincts, like his father's, are uncannily accurate, and soon he begins closing in on the elusive bomber, whose mission is to create a sustainable earth where the next generation has hope for the future. The topic is timely, the pacing is pedal-to-the-metal, and Klass does a solid job of creating three-dimensional characters out of Smith and Green Man but the conclusion is far too obvious. Hopefully, the author will include some big plot twists or revelations in his next outing.
Customer Reviews
Sentimental and boring
Hit me with a 2x4! That would be less painful than slogging through your overwrought, repetitious, sanctimonious book. One of the worse I’ve read in several years.
