A young woman grieving the loss of her best friend learns how to live through sadness with the help of a taciturn young man in this charming rom-com. Lenny is still reeling from the cancer death of her BFF, Lou—she is so bereft she can’t even go back to her and Lou’s apartment and is sleeping on the Staten Island Ferry—when she meets Miles, the estranged uncle of her new nanny charge. She reluctantly accepts his assistance in going through a list of activities she promised Lou she’d do in exchange for helping him forge a better relationship with his niece. Author Cara Bastone’s light, deft touch brings us closer to Lenny and Miles as we gladly watch them navigate their growing relationship and break down walls that have been keeping them alone, lonely, and hurt. Promise Me Sunshine is a delightful and thoughtful read.

Another new favorite author
Don’t pass this by. So totally enjoyable. A story about love in all its forms..deep friendships, deep loves, and loss.
And yet somehow, Ms Bastone’s writing, brings laughs along with sadness.
This is the real world where a chapter or two cannot explain the depths of love or loss. The writing is extremely witty and entertaining…even though the main characters have been through extreme loss.
This the first book I’ve read from this author…I’m looking for her next book!
Best book I’ve ever read.
I’m not kidding when I say I’ve never written a review before but oh. my. GOSHHH. This book deserves 10/5 stars. I couldn’t stop smiling and I read this in one sitting. This was truly written so beautifully. I’m speechless.
