Review: Riding Steele #6: Aftershock
Riding Steele: Aftershock by Opal Carew is the sixth and final part of her new six-part serial Riding Steele. Riding Steele will be released as a full length novel in early 2015 as book 3 in her Ready To Ride series.
Aftershock picks up right where Crossroads left off...
Laurie has been rescued from Donovan, and now the crew is laying low while the police investigate Donovan's death. They know they're innocent of outright murder but could leaving him strapped up in the cage he had kept Laurie in have led to his death in any way?
Laurie is also having issues being intimate with Steele. Her desire is there, that hasn't waned but anytime he gets slightly dominating or take-charge she begins having flashbacks to her abduction by Donovan and the cage he kept her in.
Steele is in love with her just as he knows she is in love with him but he wonders if they are just truly too different. She is soft and flowery and all stable and such and he isn't. He's rough around the edges and dominating and he doesn't want to settle. He's a nomad and he is convinced it just won't work between them. Can they get past their issues or is all that feeling and emotion they have for each other just going to fade away like dust in the wind?
All she knew was, now that she'd allowed herself to open the door and share intimacy with him again, she needed more. He'd stoked the fire and it was blazing inside her.
