Publisher Description
First impressions can be most deceiving!
Under the tutelage of her strict father, then that of an equally strict husband twice her age, Nessa, Lady Haughton, has been trained all her life to be a model of English propriety and virtue. But beneath the inexperienced young widow’s oh-so-prim exterior, she craves a taste of the wickedness she has always been denied. Now that she is finally free, she intends to satisfy that craving!
Notorious rakehell and war hero Jack Ashecroft finds himself unexpectedly elevated to Marquis of Foxhaven. But to claim the fortune that goes with the title, Jack must renounce his wild ways and establish himself as a respectable member of Society. The surest, quickest path, he is certain, will be to find and wed a woman beyond reproach—if one will have him.
When Jack and Nessa meet, each thinks the other is exactly the ticket to the changes they are seeking. Sparks will fly when they discover each other’s true goals—especially if it’s already too late to turn back!
A sparkling prequel to the Saint of Seven Dials series
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Womanizer Jack Ashecroft is stunned to learn that he has become the new Marquis of Foxhaven, and he is ill prepared to accept his new responsibilities. He is further dismayed to learn that the estate's funds will be held in trust until he proves himself respectable. Although his notorious exploits have left him unwelcome in most homes, Jack determines that the surest course to redemption lies in marrying a woman with an impeccable reputation--and the beautiful young widow Nessa Haughton seems the perfect candidate. What Jack doesn't know is that Nessa is actually sick of her prim and proper lifestyle and is itching to let loose. Soon hero and heroine lock horns in an embrace that eventually blossoms into heated passion. In her newest Regency, Hiatt (Gabriella) handles the ensuing story beautifully: it is fast, witty and fun.

Great story
I have read this twice now as I love this kind of story. I have my iPad for several years and have lost my husband almost 5 years ago. I am on a limited budget now but I buy a book or two every month. Being a former Navy wife of a career .Navy man we had a good life . Thanks for a good story.
Scandalous Virtue
Very good book
Unexpected
About halfway through the novel, I realized that this was going to have a very predictable ending. The groom was put in a position that would not look good to his new bride...and you can guess the rest. I assumed that this ensuing confusion would last the rest of the novel. I was wrong. The author kept throwing surprises that keep the reader engaged. The wrap up was a little quick for their last adventure, but as the book is a romance novel and not an adventure story, it can be excused. I liked it and will probably read it again.
