Secrets of the Congdon Mansion

When 83-year-old heiress Elisabeth Congdon was found smothered to death in her mansion on the shores of Lake Superior, police immediately suspected the victim's adopted daughter Marjorie Caldwell and her new husband, Roger Caldwell.

The motive: greed. They wanted to speed up their multi-million dollar inheritance.

Roger Caldwell was convicted of the crime, but his wife was acquitted. Marjorie, though, went on to a series of other crimes that kept the story in the news for years.

Today the mansion is a popular Minnesota tour site, but they don't like to discuss the murder case on the tours.
