Seven Deadly Sequins

B onnie is getting ready for Founders’ Day in quirky little Bliss, Georgia, and she’s trying to adjust to her grandmother, Gigi, sharing the cottage. Gigi is getting worked up about an old friend stealing one of her recipes and using it as the main offering at her vendor space (a shoe) in the Enchanted Garden. After Gigi and her old friend have a very public altercation in the afternoon, Bonnie is horrified to find her grandmother at the shoe that evening, holding a bloody rolling pin, with her old friend’s body nearby.

The author has once again woven a complex story in a not-so-simple little town, with a parallel plot relating to Bonnie’s imminently ending marriage. Wright’s history, his old relationships, and their impact on the relationship between him and Bonnie are another through line. The setting is lovely, particularly the Enchanted Garden, as well as the nearby lake. There’s a lot going on, keeping the story moving at a brisk pace, with both humor and sorrow.
This is the second in the Bonnie and Clyde Mysteries, even more enjoyable than the first! The reader feels the heat of the Georgia summer, smells the flowers and salivates over the delectable treats created by Bonnie and Gigi. As readers, we can ignore the calories.

Murder is afoot again in the small town of Bliss, Georgia, with the second installment of the Bonnie & Clyde Mysteries. This time, our amateur sleuth’s grandmother, Gigi, is the suspect! Not wanting her grandmother to be wrongfully accused and allowing the real killer to get away, Bonnie, along with her best sidekick Clyde, are more motivated than ever to figure out who dun it, but will Bonnie’s meddling put her in danger? Or worse, drive a wedge between her and a certain handsome,new sheriff?

It was so fun to be back in Bliss with Bonnie and everybody! Bonnie and Mason’s banter and chemistry continue to entertain and give me butterflies while the murder mystery definitely keeps you guessing and on your toes!

I’m so happy that the killer wasn’t the only one who got the justice they deserved! By the end, Bonnie is well on her way to being truly free.

Welcome back to Bliss, GA where new shopkeeper Bonnie and her Houdini kitty side kick, Clyde, get themselves into “general tomfoolery and ongoing shenanigans” in this second book of the Bonnie and Clyde Mystery Series. In “Seven Deadly Sequins”, Bonnie uses her sleuthing skills to solve a new murder to keep her grandma “Gigi” out of the slammer and avoid becoming the next victim.

Author Julie Anne Lindsey weaves her “Enchanted Princess” wand and writes an intriguing story filled with twists and turns that will keep the reader on the edge of their seat, searching for “whodonit” right until the very end. Her witty banter between Bonnie and “Mr. Wright” (aka Sheriff Mason Wright) upgrades this series to a higher stratum of cozy mystery. Lindsey creates a small town that you ache to visit while developing the personality of each character in the story. She cleverly embeds mystery within mystery to keep the reader aching for more. The reader will finish this book with a happy sigh, while simultaneously yearning for book 3, “Beating the Wrap”, to be released in November 2021.
