Southern romance queen Sherryl Woods writes the kind of books you want to read on the porch with a glass of sweet tea, and she’s on top of her game with the first book in the Sweet Magnolias series. Maddie’s been having a bad year, ever since her husband Bill left her for a nurse at his practice. Even her two funny, loyal besties are getting on her last nerve. And then she meets Cal, her son’s kindhearted (and extremely hot and way younger) baseball coach. We were completely on board from page 1. Woods captures both the deliciously conflicting emotions of a new crush and the infuriating hypocrisy of small-town busybodies who didn’t say boo about the even bigger age difference between Maddie’s ex and his new girlfriend. This delightful comic romance is a perfect read for a quiet summer evening.

Lighthearted 🌻
I really enjoyed this one. It was tough to put down! Woods’ writing brings the small-town community and its characters to life. This is a feel-good tale of love and new beginnings, while navigating judgement and internal conflict. It is super light-hearted and mood-lifting. Looking forward to the next book in the series!
Sweet, funny, and tugs at the heart!
This was a beautiful story. Had all the elements of a heartfelt and believable story. I loved the way Sherryl Woods pulls the reader in.
I enjoy the lovable characters and the way they come together. On so many levels I can and do identify with Maddie as she and her kids pull themselves back together after their world is turned upside down.
I love the interaction between Maddie, Helen and Dana Sue and their bond of friendship and sisterhood. Makes me think of my own friends.
This is a series I can’t wait to keep reading.
A visit with the Sweet Magnolias
I’ve read 2 of the books in this series & loved them. This one is no exception. It was like getting to visit with beloved friends back in Serenity. These have all been so good & I’ve loved them all.
