Publisher Description
One of the worst possible things has happened to you. You’ve gotten the bad news from your wife’s doctor, and the two of you are either facing breast cancer treatments, or are in the middle of them now. We’re here to help.
In 2000, Becky was diagnosed with breast cancer, and completed extensive treatments (surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, and hormone therapy). She was in remission for 11 years, and leading a normal, healthy, and athletic lifestyle, including triathlon races and water skiing. In 2011 she was diagnosed with breast cancer again, and underwent surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, and hormone therapy once again. Because of these experiences, I’ve learned what it means to be a “cancer husband,” and how best to help women through cancer treatments. This booklet is in response to the questions I’ve received from other men looking for practical advice on supporting their wives through their own difficult time.

As the outspoken husband of a breast cancer survivor, friends and acquaintances often connect me with “breast cancer husbands.” Many times they have only been in their new role for a few days, and are barely able to absorb my advice for them, so I wrote it all down in this short, easy to read booklet for reference.
As men they want to solve the problem, but don’t have much control over their situation. They come to me seeking something practical that they can do with their pent-up energy, so I give them concrete, practical ways to prepare for the road ahead. I can’t cure their wives, but I can equip them to support their wives through the treatment process.
We have mixed feelings over the popularity of this booklet, which outsells the rest of our publications combined. On one hand, we’re disappointed to see so many couples dealing with cancer. On the other hand, we’re pleased that we can provide them with support during their difficult time. Because of the booklet’s popularity, and new ideas we’ve discovered with Becky’s 2011 recurrence, we’re excited to release this revised version, including a print edition.
