APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
There’s a timeless quality to great kids’ literature, and Susan Cooper’s classic YA fantasy has it in abundance. On his 11th birthday, Will Stanton learns that he’s the last in the lineage of powerful beings called the Old Ones, who are part of an ongoing battle between the forces of Light and Dark. Now it’s up to Will to find six artifacts that will help hold off the Dark forces from unleashing their evils upon the world. Cooper’s enthralling story lives up to the legacies of fantasy greats like J. R. R. Tolkien and C. S. Lewis. Taking inspiration from Arthurian legend, Cooper seamlessly folds British folktales into a modern, time-hopping adventure that predates Harry Potter by over two decades. This is an exciting adventure story for readers of any age.
