Sloane has come in search of scotch straight up to recover from shocking news: she's not the biological daughter of Sen. Michael Carlisle, whose dead first wife, Sloane's mother, grew up in Yorkshire Falls, N.Y., where Chase is publisher of the local paper. Great characters!

This is book 3 in The Chandler Brothers series and it features Chase and Sloane. Their one night stand was definitely one to remember as they left quite the impression on one another. When they met again, the drama in her life left him being her protector...for a price! Sloan’s character is completely relatable. The basis of what she went through is more common than we’d like to believe. I also understand Chase’s stance in the whole matter. Communication is key!
Fantastic story line! The main characters had tremendous growth. I was most shocked by Samson though! I always look forward to reading books by this fabulous author.
Book 3 is my favorite
Chase Chandler is the oldest of the Chandler brothers. He put his life on hold to take care of his younger brothers. Now he’s followed his dreams to go to DC to take over a story for the local newspaper. Then he meets her.
Sloane Carlisle is a senator’s daughter that has just had her world changed.
These two have a one night stand and then find themselves involved in a mystery that could end with people dead.
Book 3 is a goodie!!!

Great reread
This is my favorite chandler brother. Youget to see all three getting their lives In order and moving on. Chase getting to leave the small town and try to write a huge story he did t expect what that would me and that it would bring him back home as personal protection. Chase and Sloan are so great and I loved finding out how everyone deals with secrets for the past when politics are involved. This was one of my first books by Carly Phillips of course 20 years ago when this series first came out and it is still one of my favorites and very glad I followed Kelly Ripas book recommendation for the bachelor and this series.
