This book is about Ameline Lewis, who was almost eighteen when she started spending weekends at her brother’s apartment while her father was out of town. However, her brother spent the weekends with his girlfriend, and Ameline became friends with his roommate, Gabe Decker. (There is an enormous Decker Clan represented in books in the author’s backlist.) The relationship deepened over time and Gabe was the first person Ameline would turn to for support or advice. Gabe had lost his childhood sweetheart at sixteen and had no interest in trying love again. But the two both silently fell in love over the course of three years, and when Ameline’s father cut off his support and Ameline was facing a serious medical crisis, Gabe stepped in to provide her a place to live and the help she needed. This book was so expertly written that the slow burn romance was worth every second. I absolutely loved Gabe and Ameline, and it was wonderful to see Gabe taking a chance at love again. The book ends in a very distressing cliffhanger, but I wouldn’t expect anything else. The author likes to write very emotional stories that tear her readers apart and eventually puts us back together. I hope that there isn’t a big lag before the conclusion because I don’t like where the story is currently hanging. I most definitely recommend this book for readers who enjoy emotional, contemporary romance novels. CB’s duets are emotional rollercoasters and book one of Impossibly Possible has left me wrecked.

I love the Deckers so I’ve been waiting until we got around to Gabe. This book is absolutely heartbreaking but I loved watching Gabe and Amelie through the phases of their lives and how their relationship grew.

The cliffhanger is huge so I’m going to need book 2 like now!

You can’t help but love Gabe and Ameline, as they develop their relationship organically, then have the angst of the slow burn as their chemistry heats up. There were so many mind-blowing twists and turns, drama from Ameline’s horrible family, medical scares, and more to keep you riveted to the pages! I knew there would be a cliffhanger, and I 𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘭𝘭 wasn’t ready for the punch in the gut it gave me, as I was left in tears, desparate for answers that only the second book can give!!🫣😢 Don’t miss this must-read, emotional duet from the amazing Decker Family world!
