The Pearl of Orr's Island
Deliciously written, gripping in its story line, and spiritually inspiring, the reader finds this work calls her out of herself and into a more magnanimous and generous world view. Real world tragedy endured with godly courage inspires one to see all is not lost in these momentary but gut-wrenching trials of living we all endure. Hopelessness is conquered by glimpses of real people who rise up and do what is pure and good without all the self-serving inner wrestling we plague ourselves with every day. A refreshing and honest story of simple people who live with grandure rarely know to the readers who have so much more.
Pearl of Orr s island
I got this book because my surname is Orr. It was slow reading at first. I began to see a description the christian faith that I received from my forebears displayed in this story. I saw that people's behavior in this time period was not very different from behavior today. Ms. Stowe revealed herself as a story teller frequently through the book by speaking directly to the reader. The longer I read the book the more I enjoyed it. Even though none of the characters had my surname, I still recommend reading it.
