Uncle Tom’s cabin, or, Life among the lowly

This is a great book. In parts I cried. It has stood the test of time and I understand the present better for having read this book. It still speaks.

Reading this book again as an adult, I find that the insight and bravery that Harriet Beecher Stowe displays in her book nothing short of remarkable. Her writing style is superb, and her ability to develop the character of each of her individuals in this novel adds poignancy to the effectiveness of the cause so brilliantly laid out on these pages. It reminds me how much our prejudices are still denying people of many races their right to achieve their full potential even in the twenty-first century.
