The Pioneers
It is a wonderful tale and a glimpse into the history of the flooding of this country by white man. It is a tale of loss of the freedom that existed here before we came. It is a tale of personal bravery and personal conviction that surpasses anything that we, as fathers of modern boys can convey to our sons. If I had the power, I would make these J. F. Cooper series on leather stocking a compulsory reading for every growing boy and every curious girl. Nothing but the value of honesty and uprightness clan be gained from this.
