Edith Nesbit’s beloved novel captures the magical enchantment of childhood. Siblings Bobbie, Peter, and Phyllis live a very comfortable life until their father disappears and they’re forced to move with their mother to a small country home near a train station. Despite their impoverished circumstances and their mother’s stress, the children never stop pursuing joy—and adventure. Between preventing a train accident, rescuing a Russian soldier, and befriending everyone in town, their days are full…even before they embark on their most important quest yet: finding their father.
Set in the charming English countryside, this story will make you feel nostalgic for simpler times.

Railway Children
Roberta, Peter, and Phyllis live a comfortable life with their mother and father. Then something happens and the family moves to a smaller house in Three Chimneys. Mother doesn’t tell them why Father hasn’t come with them only that he hopes to join them soon. In their new environment, passing trains catch their interest and imagination. Then the trains guide them to new friends and hope.
This book contains a time capsule of a different era. People come together and try to help each other. Of course, some of the characters express views that have become much less popular today.
