Publisher Description

Uncle Tom’s Cabin (World Literary Classics)(Enligh originals) revealed the cruelty of black slavery and the suffering of black slaves in the plantations of the South of the United States. The protagonist of the novel, Tom, an old black slave, was resold several times between the slave owners, and finally fell into the hands of Regory, an extremely cruel slave owner. He died under the whip of the master to cover the escape of two female slaves. Eliza, a slave woman whose child would be sold at the same time, ran away with her child at the risk of death. With the help of abolitionists, she met her husband and struggled to resist capture, finally reaching Canada and gaining freedom. The novel praises the black people represented by the slave Eliza and her husband for their hard struggle against oppression and for freedom and liberation. Meanwhile, it also praises the Christian charity and forgiveness spirit embodied by Tom.
