Publisher Description

“Chilling and humane….Skillful and subtle….A deeply moving novel that transcends genre.”

—Richmond Times Dispatch

A sinister mystery that leads all the way back to the Holocaust ensnares Scotland Yard detectives Duncan Kincaid and Gemma James in Where Memories Lie from award-winning “masterful novelist” (Denver Post) Deborah Crombie. A writer in the same elite class as Elizabeth George, Martha Grimes, and Anne Perry, Crombie mesmerizes with a story at once gripping and poignant that explores the dark places in the human heart, and the shadowy corners Where Memories Lie.

From the past to the present

I really like these characters. I look forward to seeing their future play out. This was an interesting story following a gorgeous piece of jewelry as it leaves Germany with a beloved daughter and ends up a centerpiece in several murders.

One of the best!

This recent addition to Deborah Crombie's stellar series with Gemma James and Duncan Kincaid mixes mystery with history, passion, loss, hope, friendship and a myriad of other human emotions. I was riveted during the last half of the story. More please!
