Publisher Description
He’s her only protection from the darkness—and the one man she can’t afford to trust.
I came back to the bayou looking for closure.
Not peace. Not healing. And definitely not the kind of man who could burn through every wall I’ve spent years building.
But this place doesn’t care what I want. The moss-draped oaks, the thick, haunted silence of the water—it all feels like it remembers me. And it’s not just memories that are waiting.
Something dark is hunting me. Something twisted and powerful and older than the swamp itself.
I should run. But Lincoln Chiasson won’t let me.
He’s everything I swore I didn’t need—gorgeous, grounded, and tangled up in the same supernatural world my father chose over me.
Lincoln’s loyalty runs deep. So do the shadows in his past. And when he looks at me, I see heat and hunger—and something else I can’t afford to want.
But there’s a curse tearing through his family. Secrets none of them are ready to face.
And if I let him in, if I give him the pieces of me I’ve kept
buried, I’m not sure either of us will make it out unbroken.
Because the line between dream and nightmare is thin in the bayou.
New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Donna Grant returns to the Louisiana bayous in the next book of her searing Chiasson series.

Oh, they just keep getting better and better!
Being stuck outside on a 12x12 plot of land while running for your lives may not be the perfect first date, but it worked for Linc and Ava. Their story was dangerous, action packed, and chock full of yummy sexual tension.
I liked Ava's drive. She's a bit of a damaged daddy's girl, but she doesn't get whiny about it. She takes action and goes to get answers. And Lincoln is pure Alpha Male - he has heart, he has strength, he's courageous and kind and protective, but he's also got that bit of bad boy edge that makes you melt. The two of them together were fun. They danced around each other so well that by the time they finally gave into their desires, the tension was so thick it was like this massive reading relief. LOL
I really liked Vincent (the hero of Wild Fever), but Linc is totally my new book boyfriend! He can polish his Bowie knives around me any day. :)
