Publisher Description
The Wheel of Time is now an original series on Prime Video, starring Rosamund Pike as Moiraine!
In Winter's Heart, the ninth novel in Robert Jordan’s #1 New York Times bestselling epic fantasy series, The Wheel of Time®, Rand al'Thor and his friends face personal trials in their quests to build alliances against the Dark One.
After locating Masema Dagar, the Prophet of the Dragon, on Rand’s behalf, Perrin Aybara returns to his encampment to discover his wife Faile has been abducted by the Shaido Aiel. Determined to reclaim her, Perrin forgoes his mission, risking his army in pursuit of a dangerous and unpredictable enemy.
Wounded and trapped in the Seanchan-occupied city of Ebou Dar, Mat Cauthon is awaiting an opportunity to leave. But he is not the only one in hiding. Three Aes Sedai are desperate to escape. As Mat seeks a way to smuggle them all out of the city, he encounters his own prophesized fate when he meets the Daughter of the Nine Moons.
Rand himself is on a mission of vengeance. He has tracked the traitorous Asha’man who tried to kill him to Far Madding. It is a city where no one is capable of channeling the One Power, leaving Rand vulnerable to those who would stop at nothing to destroy the Dragon Reborn…
Since its debut in 1990, The Wheel of Time® by Robert Jordan has captivated millions of readers around the globe with its scope, originality, and compelling characters. The last six books in series were all instant #1 New York Times bestsellers, and The Eye of the World was named one of America's best-loved novels by PBS's The Great American Read.

PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
The ninth installment in Jordan's sprawling Wheel of Time saga is as bountifully pregnant with plot threads as its predecessorsDand as bewilderingly esoteric for readers who have yet to commit its previous episodes to memory. Rand al'Thor, the Dragon Reborn, seems no nearer to fulfilling his destinyDto unite the embattled races of his domain against the Dark OneDthan he was in The Path of Daggers. The warmongering Seanchan are pouring into Ebou Dar, setting refugees in flight and complex schemes in fidgety motion. Perrin Aybara is distracted from his mission to shepherd the prophet Masema to Rand when he pursues the rebel Aiel who have kidnaped his wife, Faile. The mystical sisterhood of the Aes Sedai remain divided between Elaida, pretender to the title of the White Tower, and Egwene al'Vere, ally to Elayne, Queen of Andor. Elayne, Rand's lover, barely escapes poisoning, and Rand himself, still smarting from the unhealed wound of an assassination attempt, shapeshifts through a variety of disguises to pass unnoticed in hostile territories. Jordan can always be counted to ground his dizzying intrigues in solid chunks of cultural detail, and he here rises to the occasion, with chapters as dense as Spenserian stanzas with symbols and rituals. Not all of his subplots tie together, and fewer than usual of his vast cast of characters make a memorable impact. Nevertheless, he manipulates the disorder of his narrative to credibly convey a sense of an embattled world on the verge of self-destruction, and he entertainingly juxtaposes the courtly civility of his villains with the precarious chaos they cause. Devotees accustomed to this ongoing epic's increasing lack of focus will no doubt find it on target.
Customer Reviews
Really Dont Understand the Negativity I've Read About This Book!!!
*SOME SPOILERS AHEAD*
I absolutely LOVED this one as much as all the others so far in the series. We get to spend so much time catching up on some of the other important major characters in the series that have so far not had so much attention/development, and are now MORE beloved than they were before I read Winter's Heart. I did a mix of Audibook + eBook to be fair, so I didn't feel at ALL like this book was a dreaded "slog," as seems to be commonly said about this entry in the series.
Standout plot points: Mat's time with & learning more about the Seanchan culture, finally meeting the Daughter of the Nine Moons + his departure from Ebou Dar; Elayne's return to Caemlyn & beginning her journey to claim to the Lion Throne; Hunting the rogue Asha'Man in Far Madding; Nyneave's level-up now that she's unblocked (hooray!!) and jeweled/geared UP with angreal & ter'angreal (yassss 🎊⚡️); and finally - what to me was one of the most exciting battles yet in the whole books...protecting 2 of the strongest channelers alive, Rand and Nyneave as they weave saidin and saidar for their quest to cleanse saidin! That battle was EPIC & a big battle between the world's powerful channelers with the looming mass of saidin rising above it all..so exciting and cool to see how this battle's strategy was executed too. Onwards to Crossroads of Twilight, book 10!
Started this when first released
And now in 2024, finally I finished it. Life got in the way, as I should, of reading for pleasure.
Loved this epic installment of this immense saga!
Can’t wait to see Matt’s prophecy fulfilled and for light to stand victorious over darkness. As it should always.
Magical Detail
Jordan does it again, great character development & a story with momentum that leaves you breathless & wanting more.
