So good
Down In Flames is a well written MM story that ticked all the boxes for me and I loved this book. from the first chapter I was hooked on professional hockey player Hudson (aka Holt) and Jude’s second chance at love story. Having recently read the prequel White-Hot Hookup I was left desperately wanting to read what happened between these two wonderful men. From the first chapter, Kate Meader drew me in and held me captive by the story she wove in her latest addition to the Hot In Chicago Rookie series.
What happens when a random hookup becomes so much more? Hudson using his dating persona of Holt was determined to lose his v-card and Jude was the lucky man he chose. Their first meeting was explosive and you could feel the passion ignite whilst reading.
When Hudson learns that Jude knew his identity he feels betrayed and walks away. Fast forward 12 months and Jude is now a candidate firefighter for Engine 6 and Hudson has just been traded to the Chicago Rebels.
Meeting again, the sparks still sizzled and it was entertaining to watch the push and pull dynamic as these two finally owned their feelings. Both Hudson and Jude have baggage and they both need to do some soul searching. The banter between them was witty, but it is the development of their relationship that added heart to this story.
The secondary characters were entertaining, adding an additional layer to the story and I cannot wait to read more in this series.
