Publisher Description

In a world where magic is tightly controlled, the most powerful man in history must choose between his kingdom and his son - in the first book of the New York Times bestselling Lightbringer series. Perfect for fans of Brandon Sanderson, Robin Hobb and Joe Abercrombie.

EVERY LIGHT CASTS A SHADOW.

Guile is the Prism, the most powerful man in the world. He is high priest and emperor, a man whose power, wit, and charm are all that preserves a tenuous peace. Yet Prisms never last, and Guile knows exactly how long he has left to live.

When Guile discovers he has a son, born in a far kingdom after the war that put him in power, he must decide how much he's willing to pay to protect a secret that could tear his world apart.

Epic read

Really gripping story line with a unique view on magic

What a read🤯

This series is like nothing I’ve ever read before?! You really don’t know what you’re getting yourself into when you pick up this first book. A true adventure full of action and felt emotion, I would catch my self every now and then actually laughing out loud to bits a pieces in this series! I finished the series 5mins ago and now I already feel lost on what to do with my self argghh....

Not bad

I found this book to be hard work at times. The story itself is well written and I am going to get the next book in the series. I did find at times I needed to put this book down and have a day or so break. I found some of the descriptive writing to be sometimes too much and hence the need to put it down for a bit.
